What to expect from Hybrid Hens!!
To help you decide which hens are for you we show below some of our selection. Please note all our chicken are fully vaccinated and wormed before they are ready to go to lovely new gardens to start their laying career. 
All our chicken are Free Ranging and not shut in Barns.  In addition they roost on perches at night and do not sleep on the floor which is not good for their wefare and can made them dirty on their breasts.  Please phone us on 07775166938 for availability as it changes daily. You will then be able to book an appointment slot to collect. When you visit us you will need suitable cardboard boxes with air holes, cat basket, dog crate or chicken crate to transport them in.  It helps with cleanliness if you put a few wood shavings in the bottom of the container. DO NOT BRING A POLYTHENE CONTAINER THEY WILL SUFFOCATE.


AMBER LINK  - White Hen with Amber undertones across back and neck feathers. Brown egg layers up to 300 pa. Friendly bird and good for family garden. Adapts itslelf to any type of chicken house. An asset to any flock type.
COLUMBINE.  This is a hybrid from the Legbar strain which lays 80% blue pastel eggs which are slightly small.  They take longer to mature than others & tend to slow down laying in winter.  Good bodyweight when full grown.  Very attractive bird which thrives on free ranging a  likes to consume a large amount of vegetation. They are slightly more expensive than typical hens.  
COLUMBIAN BLACK TAIL -  Similar to the Ginger Ranger but this lovely brown hen has several black tail feathers to distinguish itself.  Good looking and friendly she has an excellent egg laying record  of approx 280 pa.  Reddish brown.   Fully grown they have a good bodyweight.

BLUE MARAN, Blue Haze, Bluebelle - Very attractive large bird with grey/blue plumage.  Some may have a few light brown chest feathers.  Their laying capabilities are excellent approx 275 eggs a year which are a nice mid brown. Ideally suited for any type of garden home.

COPPER BLACK.   A bit like the Rhode Rock but with much darker legs and more copper coloured feathers on neck and chest.  These Hyrbids lay the darkest brown eggs.  They settle well in any enviroment and become very tame.  They can produce approx 270 eggs a year.
COU COU SPECKELDY  - A striking hen distinctively coloured with grey and black flecked feathers with a white necklace.  They are large good dnatured calm birds and will produce in excess of 265 eggs a year.  Eggs are mid to dark brown with some speckling on shell.
PEARL LEGHORN.  Pure white hen with floppy red come.  Lays lovely large pure white eggs.  This bird is smaller than some hybrids but her laying capabilities are excellent.  Approx 285 eggs a year.  A fiesty, lively chicken wilh of character with relatively small appetite so economical to keep!

SUSSEX STAR.  Large traditional hen with Sussex colouring of white with black accessories.  Eye catching within the flock she lays up to 280 large creamy eggs a year.  General purpose bird suitable for any type of garden or smallholding. 

PIED SUSSEX (Reverse Sussex) - The best way to describe this chicken is to say the reverse of the Sussex Star!  She is black with white necklace and chest.  Similar in temperament to the Sussex she is a large calm bird and will lay up to 275 eggs a year.  These are slightly more unusual but an asset to any flock type.
GINGER RANGER  - sometimes also called THE WARREN OR ISA BROWN.  If probaby the most vrsatile of all laying hens and can produce approx. 320 eggs a year.  However they do not usually live as long as some lesser laying hens.  Good utility birds with suitable plumage to live inside or out.  They are freindly, efficient, economical yet attractive in any flock.  They lay  large brown eggs.

RHODE ROCK -  Well established black hen with brown chest feathers and lovely Kingfisher blue tone across back. Lays up to 300 large brown eggs a year.  General purpose bird suitable for any type of garden or small holding.
